CHEAP EAT: LIDO SQUARE FOOD CENTRE

Wet market during the day, a place to feast at night; Lido Square Food Centre is located at Lido, one of the hot eating spots in Penampang area. A variety of food is available at the lowest price, starting from as low as RM 0.80! Be it grilled, barbequed, fried, steamed or soup-based, Lido Square Food Centre is a food galore! 



Fried and steamed dumplings (pork and vegetables fillings) are available at unbeatable prices here if you don’t feel like eating a huge meal. Prepared and served traditionally, the dumpling meat is finely minced with garlic and onions to taste and served with garlic vinegar – a tasty experience that surely will bring you back to the olden days!


Sarawak’s famous Kan Lau Mee served with barbeque pork, minced meat, with their special homemade mee is something you should try!




Luk Luk King is a “have-it-your-way” finger food stall; steamboat (served with soup or satay sauce) or deep fried. Choose your favorite munchies and simply hand it over to the hawker to get it prepped. 




Have a thing for juicy pork meat and burgers? Look no further than Big Bad Wolf Pork Burger for a treat of thick pork patty with homemade bread!



Crispy pancakes are Malaysians’ favorite comfort food and Top Singer Pan Cake offers a few ways of eating a crispy pancake; have it with only butter, or have it together with sugar, peanut butter, and eggs. Legend has it that your first bite will get you singing – that’s how good it is! 




Lido also caters to the variety of Western Food; you can satisfy your western food cravings at Flame Forest Steak! Steaks, chicken chops, fish and chips are all available here. Who says you can’t go Western at small stalls?



Economical food. The term economical food here is not judged based on the price, it is actually to represent the many items to you can add to your rice to make a complete meal.



Arisan Fried Chicken is a famous Taiwan delicacy and it is now available in KK City! A huge piece of chicken is fried to golden brown without losing its tender and juicy texture. Choose from Nuggetto, Choppo or if you prefer seafood to poultry, try Arisan’s Fish Filletto or Sotong Ring. Supersize Sausages are also available. 



From Penang to KK City, Oyster Omelette is yet another favorite among Malaysians. If you’ve never tried this dish before, here’s what to expect; the Oyster Omelette is a small plate of sticky chewy egg cooked with briny oysters. You can either have it on its own or dip it into the sour and spicy chilli sauce provided at the stall. Another dish served at Pulau Ketam Beh Kee is the Carrot Rice Cakes.




KK City is a famous seafood paradise. If you are craving for soup-based seafood dishes, then head down to Fish Head Mee Hoon. The special soup is boiled for hours together with fish heads and vegetables, and is served with fresh fish and rice vermicelli. If you love a little bit of spiciness, opt for the Tom Yam soup.



Saucy Squid with KangKung, Rojak and barbeque Tofu can be found here too. The squid is cooked till soft and tender in soy sauce until it is fully absorb, and served with peanut topping.



There is no need for signboards, it is extremely easy to spot as this stall offers the freshest barbeque stingray, squid, and fish, and are served with the notoriously delicious “Sambal” (chili and dry prawn paste with minced spring onions) - it’s something you should not miss in KK City.




Be spoiled for choices as Satay Sedap barbecues their specially marinated chicken, beef, and lamb before your eyes. Served with peanut sauce and ketupat (optional), 20 skewers can disappear so quickly from your plate!




Melvic BBQ Chicken Wings with Honey are the best in town! Also available at Damai (opposite Damai Specialist Centre, next to the roundabout) and selling at only RM1.80 each, Melvic’s chicken wings are credited to its delicious marinade and tangy honey glaze – a taste that will get everyone coming for more.



Bakso Bola Tenis (Tennis Balls Bakso) is special in its own class. Why? Because of the size of the bakso (meat or fish balls), of course! They’re as big as teniss balls! Although it is an Indonesian-Chinese cuisine, it’s one everyone can enjoy. Served with bakso, tofu and vegetables in a special broth soup, each bowl is a delicious, fulfilling meal.



The Claypot Chicken Rice and Sizzling Noodle here are so good, they'll be gone faster than you can say anything! Make sure you do not get your tongue burned when you indulge in these mouth-watering dishes – the thick gravy made from Chinese sauce and vegetables is the core element that makes these two dishes so irresistible.



A.L.L Cukup Rasa Seafood stays true to its name (Cukup Rasa means “it tastes just right”) – prepped with love and a lot of laughter with their customers, everything at A.L.L is as good as what you’ll get at prestigious hotels!



Sinsuran Kim Hing Lee serves the famous “Raw Meat” with mee/rice vermicelli/kuey teow in soup or soy sauce. “Raw meat” refers to fresh raw pork boiled in pork-bone soup.




Full House Food Court is also one of the stalls at Lido Square Food Centre that offers all sorts of dishes. It serves economy meals like rice, mee and porridge with various meat, fish and veggie to complement your meal. You can order soup and the dishes separately.



Kim Kean Yu Kee sells the famous Penang Prawn Mee, Ipoh Kuey Tiaw and Loh Mee, as well as Curry Chicken Rice, Chinese Wine Chicken Rice, Pork Stew rice, Penang Kuey Teow etc. Trust us you’ll have a hard time deciding what to eat here!



Famous Pork Herbal Soup which is also known as Bah Kut Teh, consists of pork ribs cooked in herbs and spices for hours can be found here. Apart from that, this stall also sells porridge. 




After you are done enjoying the food around, you can drop by Mee Fook Yuan to get some dry meat (they are readily edible!) and chicken/pork floss. Dry meat is the traditional Chinese delicacy and is a worldwide favorite!
