'FREE RANGE', AN EXHIBITION LIKE NO OTHER

What do you get when you combine five different forms of art (painting, dance, music hair and makeup) together in a space full of creatives? You get "Free Range"! Organized Contagious Creative Agency at South Sea Sanctuary in Kampung Air, the one of a kind art exhibition featured the creative works of international artists Ganna Sorokina from Ukraine and Mathieu Cambier from France.

Heavily influenced by themes and colors synonym to Borneo and her interest in experimental pieces, "Free Range" marks Sorokina's third and final exhibition in Kota Kinabalu. Cambier has exhibited at various art galleries in North of England, Lybia and Kuching but "Free Range" is his first showcase here. Cambier's artistic approach is unique - he creates a "diary" in the form of paintings, documenting the lives of people and places that he has seen and experienced.

A dance installment performed by TACKit, a social participatory art group that uses art as an investigative tool in understanding human nature, opened the exhibition. The performance, accompanied by a 20-minute original music soundscape designed by CoffeeVersusEvil (CVE), was indeed unique as it engaged people of diverse backgrounds to build critical dialog on social issues and aims to create an art centric environment that fosters art based education & pioneers progressive art research in Borneo. CVE also performed during the exhibition, alongside Rene Barrow and Rozie Marie and fused different genres and sounds. CVE hopes to release their debut EP by end of this year too!

Makeup and hair was designed by MUAH Studio and food was provided by LVE Restaurant in Chaya Hotel. The art exhibition will be ongoing until 26 August 2013. All artworks are for sale and visiting hours are from 11:00am to 11:00pm. Admission is free.
